How to Watch WWE on Netflix: Do You Need a VPN? (Oct 2026)
Which WWE shows Netflix carries in your country, why a VPN won't legitimately unlock them, and the official ways to watch Raw, SmackDown, NXT and PLEs.
You don’t need a VPN to watch WWE on Netflix: in most countries Netflix is already the official home of Raw, and outside the US it usually carries SmackDown, NXT and premium live events (PLEs) too. Using a VPN to pretend you’re in another country breaks Netflix’s terms and is likely to trigger a region error, so the reliable route is to use whichever official service holds WWE rights where you actually are.
Below is what Netflix carries in which regions as of October 2026, where the gaps are, and what a VPN can and can’t legitimately do for you.
What WWE content is on Netflix, by region
WWE’s rights are split differently depending on where you live. Here’s the picture from WWE’s own where-to-watch page and What’s on Netflix’s guide to the international rights:
| Region | On Netflix | Elsewhere (official) |
|---|---|---|
| United States and US territories | Raw only | SmackDown on USA Network; main-roster PLEs on ESPN; NXT PLEs on The CW; Saturday Night’s Main Event on Peacock |
| Most other countries (e.g. UK, Canada, Australia, Brazil) | Raw, SmackDown, NXT, PLEs and select archive content | — |
| Japan (from October 1, 2026) | Raw, SmackDown, NXT and PLEs | Previously on ABEMA |
| Germany and Austria | PLEs (reported) | Weekly shows on BILD and ProSieben MAXX |
| Sub-Saharan Africa | Not the main home | SuperSport |
A few notes on that table:
- US members only get Raw. Netflix became the exclusive US home of Raw on January 6, 2025, but SmackDown, NXT and PLEs stayed with other US rights holders.
- Japan is the newest addition. Netflix announced that from October 1, 2026 it is the home of WWE in Japan, including Raw, SmackDown, NXT and PLEs such as WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam and Money in the Bank.
- Germany and Austria are split. WWE lists BILD and ProSieben MAXX for the weekly shows, while Sportcal reported that Netflix picked up PLE rights there. Some reports describe these countries as exceptions altogether, so check your local Netflix app before relying on it.
Rights deals change, and sources don’t always agree on the smaller markets. Treat the table as a snapshot and confirm in your own Netflix app or on WWE’s page.
Why a VPN isn’t the answer
Searches like “how to watch WWE on Netflix with a VPN” usually come from US viewers who want SmackDown or PLEs, or from fans in a country where Netflix doesn’t carry WWE. A VPN won’t fix either legitimately.
Netflix’s terms tie your library to your location
Netflix’s terms of use say the content available to you varies by geographic location and that Netflix uses technology to verify where you are. They also prohibit circumventing content protections, and allow Netflix to restrict or end service if it suspects a violation. As a legal analysis from LegalVision points out, whether using a VPN this way is illegal depends on where you live, but it clearly runs against Netflix’s own rules. Netflix has said it enforces content licensing by geography because that’s how its deals are written.
Netflix actively detects VPNs
In practice, Netflix blocks a lot of VPN and proxy traffic. Its help center says that the “This title is not available to watch in your current region” message means your device or network is connecting through a VPN or proxy, and the fix it recommends is simply to turn the VPN off. Live events like Raw are not something you want to gamble on with a connection that may be blocked mid-show.
It wouldn’t help US viewers anyway
Even setting the terms aside, the US gap isn’t something Netflix can fill: SmackDown, NXT and PLEs in the US are licensed to USA Network, The CW and ESPN, not Netflix. The official way to watch them in the US is through those services. Tom’s Guide reported that main-roster PLEs moved from Peacock to ESPN’s streaming service; WWE’s page lists the ESPN Unlimited plan at $29.99/month, and notes that some pay-TV providers let you log in to the ESPN app at no extra cost (prices and provider lists can change).
How to watch WWE officially, step by step
- Check what your own Netflix shows. Search “WWE” or “Raw” in the Netflix app. If you’re in one of the many countries where Netflix carries the full WWE lineup, you’ll see Raw, SmackDown, NXT and upcoming PLEs.
- Find the right service if Netflix doesn’t have a show. Open WWE’s where-to-watch page and look up your country. In the US that means USA Network for SmackDown, ESPN for main-roster PLEs and The CW for NXT PLEs.
- Catch up if you miss it live. Reports since the January 2025 launch say Raw is available on demand on Netflix after the live broadcast.
- Confirm start times locally. Raw’s US slot is Monday at 8 p.m. ET, but times have shifted for special episodes, so check the listing in your app for that week.
Watching while you travel
If you travel abroad, Netflix shows you the library for the country you’re in, not the one where you signed up. That cuts both ways for wrestling fans:
- A US member visiting the UK, Canada or Australia would typically see the wider international WWE lineup there, because that’s what Netflix offers in that country.
- A member from the UK visiting the US would typically see Raw only.
None of our sources describe an official way to keep your home library while abroad. If a show you want isn’t available where you are, the official options are the local rights holder or waiting until you’re home and watching on demand where your region allows it.
When a VPN still makes sense
A VPN is a legitimate privacy tool, and there are good reasons to run one, such as protecting your traffic on hotel or airport Wi-Fi. If you use one and Netflix refuses to play:
- Turn the VPN off for Netflix, or use your VPN app’s split-tunneling feature (if it has one) to exclude the Netflix app.
- Go to fast.com and check that the country shown next to “Client” matches where you really are, as Netflix’s help center suggests.
- If it still doesn’t match with the VPN off, restart your modem or router and contact your internet provider.
According to Cybernews, shared networks, antivirus tools, browser extensions and custom DNS settings can also cause false VPN warnings, so check those if you’re not running a VPN at all.
The bottom line
As of October 2026, most of the world can watch Raw, SmackDown, NXT and PLEs on Netflix, and Japan has just joined that list. US fans get Raw on Netflix and need USA Network, ESPN and The CW for the rest. Germany, Austria and Sub-Saharan Africa have their own arrangements. A VPN doesn’t change any of that legitimately, and Netflix is set up to block it, so the dependable plan is the official service for the country you’re in.

Frequently asked questions
Can I watch SmackDown on Netflix in the US? +
No. In the US, Netflix only carries Raw. WWE lists SmackDown on USA Network, main-roster premium live events on ESPN, and NXT premium live events on The CW.
Will Netflix ban my account for using a VPN? +
Netflix's terms allow it to restrict or end service if it suspects a violation, and they say content varies by location. In practice Netflix usually detects VPN traffic and shows a region error or limits what you can watch until you turn the VPN off.
Is Raw available to rewatch after it airs on Netflix? +
Yes. Reports from the Netflix era say Raw episodes become available on demand after the live broadcast, so you can watch later if you miss the start.
Why does Netflix say I'm using a VPN when I'm not? +
Netflix's help center says the region message means your device or network is reaching Netflix through a VPN or proxy. It suggests checking fast.com, restarting your router, and contacting your internet provider if the country shown doesn't match where you are.
